Tennessee, although well known for being the mecca of country music, is becoming a popular spot for advanced education. The Tennessee Higher Education Commission oversees the public schools in the state, which are broken up into the University of Tennessee system. With campuses scattered across Tennessee, four-year universities, community schools, and numerous tech schools all make up the public school system. Private colleges also make their home in the state, the largest being Vanderbilt University, which enrolls approximately 12,000 students. Tennessee’s private and public schools both offer virtual course which enable its students to advance their education right from home enabling them to maintain their work or family commitments.
